Best Cob LLC is a corn cob processor which purchases whole corn cobs. The corn cobs are processed for a multitude of industries and end users by grinding, screening and air cleaning finished cob particles.

The corn cob processing industry started around the mid 1900's and evolved significantly over the years. Whole corn cobs were originally sourced mostly from local farmers who picked corn in the fall with the entire ear of corn intact. Farmers would put the ears of corn in storage to dry, and the following summer, would shell the corn from the cobs.

With the invention of the combine and corn dryers, farmers were able to skip the nine month drying process and pick and shell their corn with one machine. Corn cob processors were challenged because combines spread corn cobs back onto the ground, making it very challenging to collect the corn cobs. As most farmers shifted their harvesting technique, the remaining most viable source of corn cobs were the seed producers who grew corn for farmers to grow. The seed industry still harvests corn on the ear today and corn cob processors purchase most of their whole cobs from seed producers.
